Baggage Policy
- Upon presentation by a customer holding a reservation, North American Airlines will allow the following baggage to be transported as checked baggage on the same flight or flights as the customer without additional charge. Each passenger shall be entitled to a maximum of two (2) checked bags and one (1) carry on bag not exceeding fifteen (15) pounds. The maximum weight of the checked bags must conform to the limitations set forth below:
For flights to and from Guyana the maximum weight of the checked bags must not exceed 50 pounds each. For Business Class, the maximum weight of the checked bags must not exceed 70 pounds.
For flights to and from Ghana and Nigeria the maximum weight of the checked bags must not exceed 70 pounds each. For Business Class, the maximum weight of the checked bags must not exceed 70 pounds.
Size: Each piece may not exceed the dimensions of 29” x 24” x 9” for checked baggage and 8” x 14” x 18” for carry-on bags. Duffle bags with the above size limitations will NOT be accepted during the following periods: June 15th through September 10th and from December 4th through January 9th. Carry-on baggage must be limited to under seat stowage dimensions.
For infants traveling to and from Guyana, Ghana and Nigeria one (1) free 35 pounds checked baggage is allowed. Additionally, one (1) infant stroller, one (1) infant or child safety seat, or both will be checked in.
One may check-in a golf bag in lieu of one piece of checked baggage free of charge on any of North American's flights. The maximum weight is 50 pounds per bag. Customers will be required to sign a waiver of liability before these items are accepted. Golf bags may also be taken as excess baggage for a fee of $75.00.
- Liability for loss or damage to passenger checked baggage shall be limited to the proven value of the property, not to exceed $9.07 per pound, up to a maximum of 44 pounds per checked bag on international flights, or 1000 SDR per ticketed passenger on certain international flights. Liability is for a maximum of 70 pounds per checked bag to the destinations specified in paragraph one.
- Carrier accepts no liability for any unchecked baggage, including carry on articles.
- Money, negotiable papers, securities, vital medicines, eye glasses, contact lenses, dental appliances, jewelry, silverware, antiques, precious metals, sporting goods, all fragile, valuable, or perishable items including electronic equipment, computer equipment, musical instruments, cameras, lenses and other photographic equipment or other similar valuables will not be accepted as checked baggage and carrier will not be liable for injury resulting from the theft, loss, damage or delay of such valuables which are included in a passenger's checked baggage.
- Carrier is not a party to any interline baggage and ticketing agreements with any other private or commercial transportation companies (i.e., air carriers, bus companies, taxis, limousines, courtesy cars, rental cars, seagoing vessels, etc.) All baggage being transferred to or from carrier's flights by such carriers, with or without the consent of the passenger, shall be at the passenger's own risk.
- Carrier accepts liability only for bags checked by the passenger. Said passenger must show a baggage receipt as proof of being checked-in.
- For travel wholly between US points, Federal Regulations limit an airline's baggage liability to no more than $3,000 per passenger. Carrier's responsibility for checked baggage commences upon acceptance and issuance of carrier's baggage receipt at check-in and shall terminate upon return of baggage at the destination baggage area.
